Rocky Point and Old Orchard Parks Master Plans

We’re drafting a comprehensive update to the existing Rocky Point Park Master Plan (adopted in 2000) and developing a new master plan to guide upgrades for Old Orchard Park. Both plans will provide a framework for decision-making over the next 10 years.

Help shape the future of Rocky Point and Old Orchard parks! Your input will help us ensure these unique outdoor spaces can continue to support our community into the future.

During Phase 1 engagement in July and August 2022, we asked participants how they use Rocky Point and Old Orchard parks today, and what they want the parks to be like in the future. We used that feedback to develop draft design concepts and proposed actions.

During Phase 2 engagement in October and November 2023, we asked for feedback on the draft design concepts: three for Rocky Point Park, and one for Old Orchard Park. We also asked participants to share their thoughts on how we should prioritize potential improvements, as we won’t be able to achieve everything. Thank you to everyone who filled out our community surveys, participated in our online information session (October 25, 2023), or attended our in-person open house (October 26, 2023).

Your input will inform the refinement of draft master plans which will be shared with Council in early 2024. The public will then have a chance to review the draft master plans, ask questions, and offer comments during Phase 3 engagement in spring 2024.

Ask a question:

Do you have a question about the master planning process? Post your question and we’ll do our best to respond to you directly or on this page in three business days.

    Dragonboating destination

by JillR, over 1 year ago

With numerous dragonboat teams practicing out of Rocky Point (as well as a yearly regatta that brings many visitors) I would like to see a dragonboat dock that is accessible without having to take a dingy out to it. With the atmospheric river last year flooding our boats it would be ideal to have some coverage also.

I would like to see a sait water pool at old orchard park like in Vancouver

by Port Moody is my Mayberry , over 1 year ago

I realise that it would be very costly but I think that it's a great place for one I would also like to see pedal boats that could be rented from both parks and at high tied families could have a game of ball hockey in the boats I think that there is enough room on the right side of the old orchard park road to the water for people to walk there 10 or 12 ft aluminium boats to the water away from the swimers as long as they are using fat air tires that will not damage the... A young family in Port Moody

by Allie, over 1 year ago

I love this city. I have never felt so at home in a city. We want to grow and raise our young family in Port Moody - close to our family, friends, daycare, and small businesses we frequent.

Living in Port Moody comes at a cost. We rent a townhouse. It has no green space for our kids to explore or run around so Rocky Point is our backyard. We walk our baby around the paved trail, we explore the forested area with our toddler, we picnic on the grassy space, we enjoy family swims at the pool, we host... Continue reading
